She was born on May 13, 1922 in West Point, IA to John & Amelia Pogge King. She married John G. “Jack” McCannon on July 3, 1945 in Fort Madison, IA. She retired from Iowa State Bank in the bookkeeping department with 11 years of service. She was a member of SacredHeartChurch and the Altar & Rosary Society of the church. She was an avid sports enthusiast and loved to watch anything sports related. She enjoyed playing golf, tennis, going bowling, playing bridge, reading, cooking and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Eileen is survived by: her husband: John “Jack” McCannon of Fort Madison, IA; 1-son: John (Cathy) McCannon, Jr. of Wichita, KS; 2-daughters: Katherine (Stephen) Stephenson of Augusta, GA & Beth (Terry) Allen of Wapello, IA; 7-grandchildren; 2-great grandchildren; 2-sisters: Pat (Bob) Freesmeier of Sebring, FL & Nancy (Leo) Pavelitic of Long Beach, MI. She was preceded in death by: her parents, 1-son: Mark McCannon, 1-granddaughter: Katie Florio & 1-brother: Buddy.
Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012 with the family to receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. and a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening all at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be held at Soldiers’ Circle in OaklandCemetery. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice or Holy Family Parish and contributions may be left at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory or at the church the day of the service.
