Obituaries Monday November 5th
Irene V. Herold, 90, of Ft.Madison, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 3:55 a.m. at the West PointCareCenter. She was born on February 14, 1922 in Fort Madison, IA to Leo H. & Lena Menke Watznauer. She married Philip J. Herold on May 30, 1941 in Fort Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1998. She was a homemaker and member of Holy Family Parish, Catholic Ladies Auxiliary and loved to play bridge, do crossword puzzles and spend time with her family. She was an avid reader and a creative cook.
Irene is survived by: 3-sons: David (Patricia) Herold of Fort Mill, SC, Fr. Anthony Herold of Davenport, IA & Thomas (Debbie) Herold of West Point, IA; 2-daughters: Sister Judith Herold SSND of Davenport, IA & Jacqueline (Phil) Wellman of Fort Madison, IA; 5-grandchildren; 13-great grandchildren; 1-great great granddaughter; 1-sister: Velma Feightner of Sarasota, FL & numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband & 2-sisters.
Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 with a wake service to be held at 6:00 p.m. Immediately following the wake service, the family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening all at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Ss. Mary & Joseph Church with Rev. Anthony Herold officiating. A private burial will be held at SacredHeartCemetery on Thursday morning. A memorial has been established for Holy Family Parish or the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
