Free Thanksgiving Dinners Show Community Spirit
By Mark Morris on November 23, 2012
AND WITH A WELCOME BY SHARON FORD OF COMMUNITY ACTION, BURLINGTON’S COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER STARTED YESTERDAY (THU) IN THE HIGH SCHOOL CAFETERIA.
VOLUNTEERS EXPECTED MORE THAN 1,600 PEOPLE TO PARTAKE IN THE FEAST. WE SPOKE WITH SEVERAL CITIZENS IN NEED WHO WERE WAITING ON THEIR FOOD, AND MOST WERE THANKFUL FOR TWO THINGS… FIRST, A CHANCE TO EAT A WARM MEAL… AND SECOND…JUST HAVING AN OPPORTUNITY TO EAT WITH OTHER PEOPLE.
OTHER COMMUNITY DINNERS ALSO TOOK PLACE YESTERDAY (THU) IN FORT MADISON AND KEOKUK.
