Obituaries Tuesday December 4th

Ina Mae Hart, 87, of Burlington, died at 4:05 PM Monday, December 3, 2012, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.  Arrangements are pending at the Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory.

 

Carolyn Ruth Nickell, 69, of Middletown, died at 5:18 am Monday, December 3, 2012, at her home in Middletown.

 Born September 16, 1943, in Monroe City, MO, she was the daughter of Harold and Jewel Huffman Krummel. On May 26, 1962, she married Jim Nickell in Monroe City, MO.

 She began work at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in 1968, where she was presently working as a Mechanical Scheduler/Planning Coordinator.

 She was a 1961 graduate of Monroe City High School.  She also attended Gem City College in Quincy, IL.

 She was a member of Monroe City First Baptist Church.  She enjoyed going to the casino, golfing, playing the piano, collecting geode rocks, and Carolyn enjoyed going to auctions for produce for their stand, Nickell Produce.

 Survivors include her husband, Jim; one son, Kevin Brent Nickell of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, DeeAnn Carol (John) Howard of New London; three grandchildren, Matthew Hicks, Karrie Hicks, and Benjamin James Nickell; one step-grandson, Skyler Howard; two sisters, Arlene Barr of Quincy, and Sandra (Robert) Moutray of St. Charles, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Dorothy.

 Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mrs. Nickell will be 1:00 PM Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Thielen Funeral Home with officiating.  Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery.  A time for food and fellowship at Middletown Presbyterian Church following the burial.

 A memorial has been established for a charity of the donor’s choice.
