Donald Audsley Ballew, 75, of Burlington, died at 6:40 AM Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born September 9, 1937, in Hale, MO, he was the son of Audsley McDowell and Gladys Rena Barlow Ballew. On August 10, 1969, he married Julie Sue Hanson in Clarkson Valley, MO.
Don worked 53 years in sales and was currently working for Stine Seed in Adel, IA.
He was a 1955 graduate of Hale High School. He graduated in 1961 from Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and storytelling. He was a talented poet as well as a lover of music.
Survivors include his wife, Sue; three sons, Jeffrey (Kara) Ballew of Orem, UT, Christopher (Selma) Ballew of Houston, TX, and David Ballew of Burlington; four daughters, Sarah Behunin of Hazelton, ID, Emily (Tom) Ferguson of Wayland, IA, Julie (Michael) Schissel of Port Washington, NY, and Rebecca (John) McDermott of Cascade, IA; 28 grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Monson of Derby, KS, and Nancy (Barry) Anderson of Chillicothe, MO; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Ballew of Dallas, TX; and 19 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Dale Ballew.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, January 7, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Ballew will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Bishop Jonathan Snow officiating. Burial will be in Hale Cemetery in Hale, MO.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.

Laura Louise Louden Ball, 62, passed away after a brief illness on Friday December 28, 2012 in San Diego, CA., closely attended by her three daughters. She was born June 23, 1950 in LaHarpe, IL., the daughter of Robert and Joyce Stevenson Louden. She was raised on the family farm near Terre Haute and attended Terre HauteGrade School and LaHarpeHigh School. The family moved to Oquawka, IL., and she graduated from UnionHigh School in 1968.
Laura was actively involved in cheerleading, school band, and church youth programs at the Terre HauteUnitedMethodistChurch. After graduation, she worked for the FBI as a fingerprint analyst in Washington, DC. She married Richard Ball in Camden, Maine on July 17, 1970. They later divorced.
She and her family lived in Maine before moving to San Diego in 1976. Laura worked in the North Island Credit Union for many years. After her children were grown, she moved to Bakersfield, CA to be near her oldest daughter and family, spending most of her time helping chauffeur the grandchildren to their many activities. Two years ago, she moved back to the San Diego area, enjoying retirement with her many friends in the area. She enjoyed walks on the beach, ocean sunsets, and whale watching.
She was a homemaker, loved being with family and friends, sewed, planned neighborhood parties, enjoyed tennis, and was a fan of the San Diego Padres and San Diego Chargers.
Survivors include her parents, Robert and Joyce Louden of Stronghurst, one brother- Larry (Pat) Louden of Hot Springs, AR., three daughters- Krystal (Mark) VanWorth of Bakersfield, CA., Bethany (Ryan) Neppl of Prior Lake, MN., Katie Ball of Chicago, IL., five grandchildren- Kristopher, Madison, Megan, Chynna, and Nate, two step grandchildren-Christopher and Brittney, one step great grandchild- Paxton, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and one brother- Rodney Louden.
Per her request, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of her life was conducted on Saturday Dec. 29th in San Diego. A private family burial ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m.Sunday January 13, 2013 in the Terre HauteCemetery with Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Stronghurst United Methodist Church Fellowship Room. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a memorial fund in her name for the Terre HauteUnitedMethodistChurch, R.R. 1, Box 131, Lomax, IL61454.

Charles Edward Clark II, 60, of West Burlington, died at 4:15 PM Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at his home.
Born May 13, 1952, in Burlington, he was the son of Joseph Edward and Jane Carroll Moyner Clark. On November 15, 1974, he married Nancy Jane Owens in Burlington.
Charles worked for Monmouth Waste Water Treatment Plant as a licensed waste operator Class I & II. He also owned and operated Clark’s Cafe on Main Street in New London.
He graduated from Burlington High School in 1972. He attended Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
He was a lifetime member of the First United Church of Christ. He was a Great River Hospice volunteer for three years. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing, and especially his family.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; one son, Christopher (Jessica) Clark of Middletown; one daughter, Amanda (Robert) Lessner of Burlington; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; his parents, Joseph and Jane Clark of West Burlington; three sisters, Carol (Richard) Oglesby of Lowell, IA, Elizabeth (John) Modrell of Sperry, IA, and Jane (Kevin) Rechkemmer of West Burlington; one brother, Joseph Clark, Jr. of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Clark will be 1:30 PM Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Great River Hospice House and First United Church of Christ.
