Darlene M. Spiker, 91, of Burlington, died at 11:05 AM Sunday, January 13, 2013, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born December 24, 1921, in Gladstone, she was the daughter of Alfred Herman and Jessie May Galbraith Lindberg. She married Francis “Frank” Edle on May 18, 1941. They later divorced. On November 18, 1960, she married Albert C. Spiker in Canton, MO. He preceded her in death.
Darlene worked as a dietary aide at the former Burlington Medical Center. She retired in 1986.
Darlene enjoyed raising her family.
Survivors include her three sons, Michael (Rosie) Edle and Thomas (Linda) Edle both of Danville, and Richard (Maria) Edle of Morning Sun; three daughters, Patricia (Del) Osborne of Sperry, Linda Edle of Elkhart, IA, and Janet Edle of Burlington; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husbands, she is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Cremation has been entrusted to Thielen Crematory.
There will be no visitation or services.

Nicholas Jon Thomas, Sr., 58, of Burlington, died at 12:22 pm Friday, January 11, 2013, at his home in Burlington.
Born October 17, 1954, he was the son of Donald Lorraine and Betty Ruth Lewis Thomas.
Nicholas worked for J.I. Case Company for over 35 years.
He graduated from New London High School in 1972.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He was a member of the NRA (National Riffle Association) and Abate (A Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education) motorcycle organization. He was a hunting enthusiast and enjoyed his motorcycle.
Survivors include three son, Joshua Neil (Jennifer) Thomas of North Liberty, Nicholas Jon Thomas II of Cedar Rapids, and Jacob Lewis Thomas of Bettendorf; two grandchildren, Reagan Nichole Thomas, and Kellen Matthew Thomas; his mother, Betty Ruth Thomas of Newton, IA; one brother, Anthony Dave Thomas of Lisbon, IA; one sister, Vanessa (Eric) Shinkle of Lynnville, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, and one brother, Michael Owen Thomas.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Thielen Funeral Home.
A private service will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established for the NRA (National Riffle Association).
