William ‘Bill’ ‘Lonnie’ Alonzo Bergen, age 69, of rural Wapello and formerly of the Letts and Columbus Junction and Washington communities, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at home.  The son of Lewis and Nedra Dillavou Bergen, he was born on January 23, 1943 in Muscatine.

 

He was a graduate of L & M High School in 1961.  Bill served in the National Guard.  He was married to Janice Randall.  He had worked at the IAAP in Middletown, the Rath and IBP in Columbus Junction, Wal-Mart in Washington, and FBG in Iowa City.

 

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Columbus Junction.  He enjoyed westerns and watching Walker Texas Ranger.  He was an avid Hawkeye Football fan and enjoyed his grandkids.

 

His family includes three daughters, Jodi Ibbotson of New Franklin, Missouri, Jennifer & Harry Finley of Wapello, and Julie Bergen & Courtney Osborne of Brighton; six grandchildren; one great grandson; and a sister-in-law, Judy Zaugg of Washington.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jackie Crull; and an infant sister.

 

The funeral for William Bergen will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello.  Judy Zaugg will do the Eulogy.  Burial will follow at the Indian Creek Cemetery, rural Columbus Junction.

 

The family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

 

Charles Harvey “Chuck” Millspaugh, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, died at his home, on Wednesday morning, January 16, 2013.

Born on December 8, 1929 in Rome, Iowa, he was the son of Charles W. and Gladys Johnston Millspaugh. He married Faye Alta Harris on October 29, 1960 in Chamberlain, Illinois. She died on July 22, 2004.

Chuck worked at IAAP as a custodian and retired after 38 years. He was a Cold War Patriot (workers who sacrificed their health in service to our country). He also farmed and worked on the production line at Heatilator where he retired for a second time. Chuck loved to laugh and could always come up with a joke to make others laugh. He enjoyed playing pitch with care-givers, car rides, eating at Deano’s and spending time outdoors in his track chair.

 

He was a member of the Rome & Lockridge Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen (Mike) Holloway of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; two grandsons, Marty and Michael; two granddaughters, Samantha and Crystal; one great-grandson, Eli; and two great-granddaughters, Addisin and Xoie.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and his parents.

Funeral services for Charles H. “Chuck” Millspaugh will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Prugh’s Chapel, Burlington, Iowa. Pastor Dean Graber will officiate.

Interment will be in Carman Cemetery, Carman, Illinois.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. in Prugh’s Chapel. A memorial has been established in memory of Charles Millspaugh.
