Obituaries Monday February 4th
Robert H. Evans, age 85, of Morning Sun, died Friday morning, February 1, 2013, at the Morning Sun Care Center. The son of Thomas Merritt and Emma Agnes Martin Evans, he was born on September 24, 1927 in Burlington. He married Frances Ruth Ellis on June 5, 1948 in Burlington. She preceded him in death in August of 1968.
Robert attended school in Yarmouth and graduated from Burlington High School. He served in the US Navy at the conclusion of WW II and through the Korean Conflict. He worked and retired from US Gypsum.
He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Morning Sun along with the Hays Scott Post 112 American Legion and the Morning Sun Lions. He had served on the Morning Sun City Council and was honored as the Citizen of the Year in Morning Sun. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing golf, and the special times with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca ‘Becky’ & Charles Powers of Oakville and Donna Evans-Hand of Morning Sun; two grandchildren, Scott Powers and Michelle & Mike Sharp; six great grandchildren, Tessa, Kia, Brendon, Reina, Michael, and Jordyn; two sisters, Janet Severin of Nevada, Iowa and Kathryn Wyss of Mediapolis; and one brother, Kenneth Evans of Yreka, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Frances.
The funeral ceremony will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Morning Sun with Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiating. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun with military rites by the Hays Scott Post 112 American Legion.
Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun where the family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Robert William Frank, age 90, of Mediapolis, died Saturday afternoon, February 2, 2013, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. The son of John and Rose Vierling Frank, he was born on May 5, 1922 in Burlington. Robert married Clara Elizabeth Banwart on March 9, 1947 in Lamar, Missouri. She died on November 15, 1990. He married Mildred H. Scheitlin on February 21, 1993 in Oakville. She died on September 10, 2011.
Robert graduated from Huron High School. He served in the US Army in WW II. He was a farmer in the Oakville area and he was a longtime member of the Apostolic Christian Church at Oakville and currently of Mediapolis. He enjoyed woodworking and being with his family.
He is survived by a daughter, Joyce & Brad Eland of Solon; three sons, Dale & Tina Frank of Oakville, Lynn & Priscilla Frank of Wichita, Kansas, and Bruce & Bonita Frank of Hoopeston, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; four brothers, Edward Frank of Mediapolis, John & Ellen Frank of Mt. Pleasant, Norman & Mary Ann Frank of Oakville, and Kenneth & Ann Frank of Virginia; and three sisters, Evelyn & Ivan Schmidt of West Bend, Ruth & Chris Pflederer of Tremont, Illinois, and Betty Frank of Nashville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clara; his wife, Mildred; a sister, Lillian Ramseyer; and a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Fruth.
The funeral for Robert Frank will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Mediapolis, officiated by the Ministers of the Church. Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Oakville.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis where the family will meet friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. The family will also greet friends one hour before the funeral at the Church on Saturday.
A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Apostolic Christian Church of Mediapolis and the Great River Hospice.
Nellie Marie Stineman, age 88, of Wapello, died Sunday morning, February 3, 2013, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center. The daughter of Harry A. and Velma Courtney Meyerholz, she was born on January 5, 1925 in Wapello. She married Max E. Stineman on July 25, 1945 in Wapello. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1994.
Nellie graduated from Wapello High School. Nellie and Max farmed outside Wapello until retirement. She loved to travel. She and Max traveled to Texas each winter for many years, besides making many trips touring the United States. In later years Gordon Robinson, an old family friend, became her traveling companion.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wapello and had been a member of the Order of Easter Star.
Nellie is survived by two daughters, Dianna & Craig Winder of Davenport and Mary Ann & Brock Allworth of Wapello; four grandchildren, Quintin & Kayla Allworth of Wapello, Gwyn & Matthew Stauffer of West Liberty, Julie & Jason Taylor of Cave Creek, Arizona, and Jeff Winder of Scottsdale, Arizona; four great grandchildren, Brecken Allworth and Caitlyn, Christopher, and Braden Taylor; and her brother, Harry Dean & Bev Meyerholz of Wapello.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max; their son, Brice; and a sister, Annalea Cummings.
The funeral for Nellie Stineman will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with Rev. Pam Kranzler officiating. Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery.
The family will meet friends one hour prior to the funeral at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. Friends may call on Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.
