Obituaries Wednesday February 13th
Faith H. Jack, age 99, of Wapello, died Monday evening, February 11, 2013, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with Rev. Jon Evans officiating. Burial will follow at the Harrison Cemetery, Wapello.
There will not be a visitation.
A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the First Presbyterian Church in Wapello and the Wapello Rescue Unit.
Byron L. Gebhardt, 58, of LaHarpe, IL passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at 6:47 PM at the MemorialHospital in Carthage, IL.
He was born May 11, 1954 in LaHarpe, the son of Edward and Maycel Bundy Gebhardt.
Byron was a lifelong resident of LaHarpe where he graduated high school in 1972. He worked most of his life as a carpenter. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, especially deer hunting, running coon dogs and trapping.
He is survived by his parents, Edward and Maycel Gebhardt of LaHarpe, one son, Joshua Gebhardt of LaHarpe, one daughter, Tara Olson of Fort Myers, FL and three brothers, Ed (Carol) Gebhardt of Burlington, IA, Kerry (Beth) Gebhardt of Sciota, IL and Marvin Gebhardt of Blandinsville, IL and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call after 3:00 PMFriday, February 15, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday. A private family burial service will be held at a later date at LaHarpeCemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Condolences may be left at banksandbeals.com.
Ann Elizabeth Hoisington White, 87, of Burlington, formerly of Huntsville, Alabama, died at 11:45 AM Monday, February 11, 2013, at the Prairie Ridge Care & Rehabilitation in Mediapolis.
Born October 27, 1925, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Rev. Forrest Hoisington and Miriam Elizabeth Nuzzum Hoisington, and grew up in several northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin parsonages. On June 12, 1949, she and Gordon White were married by her father in Elgin, Illinois. Gordon died August 24, 1998.
Ann graduated from Cornell College at Mount Vernon, Iowa, in 1947, with a B.A. degree in Art Education. She taught art in public schools and in the community. She was a person unto herself, an artist, a reader, a friend, a patron of the visual and musical arts, and an accomplished cook. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and church member.
Ann was a member of the Santa Fe Methodist Church in Fort Madison, Iowa, from 1955 till 1970, when she and her husband moved to Alabama. There she was a member of the Unitarian Fellowship of Huntsville, Alabama, for 30 years before returning to Iowa in 2001. She then became a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Burlington, Iowa, until her death.
Ann and her husband, Gordon, raised their family of two children, Miriam Elizabeth White and Dane Charles White, in Fort Madison, Iowa. Ann worked as a homemaker and Gordon worked as a forester for Crandon Paper Mills. In 1970, Gordon accepted a forestry position with Champion International Papers, in Huntsville, Alabama, and Ann worked for a number of years as an assistant Occupational Therapist at Huntsville General Hospital.
Survivors include one daughter, Miriam Elizabeth (Charles “Doc”) White VanWinkle of Burlington; one son, Dane Charles (Nancy) White of Jacksonville, Alabama; three grandchildren, Robbie (Kevin) White Parker, Charles Jesse VanWinkle, and Nora Elizabeth (Eric) VanWinkle Kirkpatrick; four great grandchildren, Alex Parker, Ashley Fletcher, Zoey Kirkpatrick and Eric Kirkpatrick; two great-great grandchildren, Chloe Fletcher and Braiden Fletcher; two sisters, Ellen Hoisington Johnson of Batavia, Illinois, and Barbara Hoisington Webster of Columbus, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 49 years, Gordon.
Cremation has been entrusted to Thielen Crematory.
The Memorial Service for Mrs. White will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 16, 2013, at The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Burlington, Iowa, 625 N. 6th Street, with Rick Johnson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Burlington and Prairie Ridge Care & Rehabilitation.
