Bees Lose Again in Late Innings; SCC Holds Out Hope for #2 Seed

THE BURLINGTON BEES GAVE UP SIX LATE-INNING RUNS YESTERDAY(SUN), IN A 7 TO 3 LOSS TO THE LAKE COUNTY CAPTAINS.

THE BEES…NOW 10 AND 15…LED 3 TO 2 IN THE BOTTOM OF THE 8TH AND HAD A REAL SHOT AT INCREASING THEIR MARGIN, WITH THE BASES LOADED AND JUST ONE OUT…BUT CLEANUP HITTER WADE HINKLE STRUCK OUT AND MICHAEL BOLASKI GROUNDED OUT TO END THE INNING.   LAKE COUNTY THEN SCORED FIVE TIMES IN THE TOP OF THE 9TH …AND BURLINGTON WENT DOWN 1-2-3 IN THE FINAL FRAME.   THE TWO TEAMS PLAY AGAIN THIS(MON) MORNING AT 11:30 AND THE BEES THEN HAVE A DAY OFF, BEFORE RESUMING THEIR HOMESTAND AGAINST THE KANE COUNTY COUGARS WEDNESDAY NITE.

IN COLLEGE BASEBALL…SCC SPLIT A DOUBLE-HEADER WITH DES MOINES AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE YESTERDAY(SUN), LOSING TO THE BEARS 4 TO 1…THEN COMING BACK TO WIN 4 TO 3.   THE TWO TEAMS WILL WRAP UP THEIR SERIES WITH ANOTHER DOUBLE-HEADER TODAY(MON) AT 4 AT DICK WAGNER FIELD.   IT LOOKS LIKE D-MACC HAS EARNED THE TOP-SEED FOR NEXT WEEKEND’S CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT…BUT THE BLACKHAWKS COULD GET THE SECOND SEED WITH TWO WINS TODAY, OR THEY COULD FALL AS LOW AS 4TH.
