Twisters Hit Breadbasket; Could be More Today

SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) — Forecasters say more tornadoes could hit the nation’s midsection today. Violent storms ripped through Iowa, Kansas and Oklahoma yesterday.

The worst damage appears to be in the Shawnee, Okla., area, where one person was killed.

A resident says his mobile home park “took a dead hit.” Another 21 were injured throughout the state.

A little closer to home, last night in Burlington, live power lines feel on a vehicle at 114 South Marshall. At another location, a tree and a garage were hit by lightening on South Main Street which caused it to catch fire.

Much of Middletown lost power as thunderstorms blew through with wind gusts of up to 60 mph and in Kahoka Missouri there were reports of uprooted trees and large branches on the ground.
