West Burlington Students Get Android Devices
Starting next fall, almost all West Burlington students will be receiving Android devices known as Kunos.
The devices are similar to iPads. Only grades 9-12 will be able to take them home at the end of the day. Superintendent Davis Schmitt says the Kunos will be another tool for teaching…
“It’s going to be a learning device. It’s a computer. And so the students will do word processing on it, research, run specific applications like Science Probes,.. those types of things. It’s a learning devices. It’s not the cure all, fix all for education but it’s going to be another tool the teachers can use to teach and the students can use to learn”.
The district will be paying for the Kunos but it’s up to the students or parents to pay for repairs. Last night, the Board of Directors of the West Burlington Independent School District, approved that the first repair is $25, the second is $100, and the third repair will equal the replacement cost.
