IT WON’T BE MADE UP.   BURLINGTON IS IDLE TODAY(TUE), BEFORE HITTING THE ROAD FOR SIX DAYS TO CLINTON AND CEDAR RAPIDS.  THEY’LL BE BACK ON THE 28TH FOR A 3-GAME SERIES WITH PEORIA.

 

IN HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER…THE BURLINGTON BOYS WERE ELIMINATED BY OTTUMWA 1 TO NOTHING IN A CLASS 3A SUBSTATE QUARTERFINAL.     COLUMBUS ENDED WB-ND’S SEASON WITH A 5 TO 1 WIN IN THE 1A SUBSTATE QUARTERFINAL AT COLUMBUS JUNCTION.     AND THE KEOKUK GIRLS DEMOLISHED CENTERVILLE 9 TO 1.  THE LADY CHIEFS WILL TAKE ON BURLINGTON THIS THURSDAY IN A 2A REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL GAME.  TODAY(TUE) THE LADY GRAYHOUNDS PLAY AT DAVENPORT ASSUMPTION…THE FORT MADISON BOYS HOST WASHINGTON IN A 2A SUBSTATE QUARTERFINAL CONTEST…AND DANVILLE-NEW LONDON’S BOYS PLAY AT CENTRAL LEE IN A 1A SUBSTATE QUARTERFINAL.

 

IN GIRLS TENNIS…KEOKUK TAKES ON DAVENPORT ASSUMPTION AT THE CLASS 3A STATE TEAM TOURNAMENT IN IOWA CITY.  

 

IN GIRLS GOLF…NEW LONDON PLACED SECOND TO VALLEY COMMUNITY AT THE CLASS 1A REGIONAL IN CALAMUS.  BOTH TEAMS, ALONG WITH WINFIELD-MT. UNION’S GRACE EDWARDS, ADVANCE TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT IN MARSHALLTOWN ON THE 28TH & 29TH.     MT. PLEASANT WAS SECOND TO CEDAR RAPIDS XAVIER AT THE 4A REGIONAL IN OSKALOOSA.  BOTH TEAMS WILL PLAY AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT IN AMES NEXT WEEK.     CENTRAL LEE’S ALEX KREHBIEL SHOT AN 85 TO WIN THE 3A REGIONAL IN COLUMBUS JUNCTION YESTERDAY.  SHE ADVANCES TO STATE, ALONG WITH KENSLEY HEATER OF MEDIAPOLIS AND TAKANA SHIMABAUKALO.     AND THE BHS GIRLS PLACED THIRD AT THE 5A REGIONAL AT CEDAR RAPIDS.  THAT’S ONE SPOT LOWER THAN NEEDED TO ADVANCE.

***AND ALTHO WE FORGOT TO REPEAT HIS NAME YESTERDAY(MON), BURLINGTON HIGH SCHOOL’S JUSTIN RANDALL WAS THE OTHER CHAMPION FROM THIS AREA AT THE STATE TRACK & FIELD MEET.  RANDALL CLEARED 6-FEET-8-INCHES IN THE CLASS 4A HIGH JUMP.
