City Council Leans Toward Money-Saving Bus System Merger
It hasn’t been voted on yet, but it looks like Burlington’s City Bus Service may be taken over by the Regional “SEIBUS” System.
Regional Planning Chief Mike Norris outlined a proposal last night that would save the city about $70,000 next year. Mayor Jim Davidson says that’s what this discussion is all about.
Councilmen Bob Fleming and Chris Reed are in favor of the plan, but Becky Anderson and Shane McCampbell are against it. Under the proposal, city bus drivers would be paid less than they make now and customers who wanted to be picked up at their homes would have the give 24 hours notice.
