It’s not everyday you see a pet monkey at a dog park, but maybe it is, if you live in Godfrey, Illinois.
A southwestern Illinois woman brought her pet monkey, along with her dog, for an outing at the “Bark in the Park Event” yesterday. Madison County Sheriff Capt. Mike Dixon, says the scene got a little out of control when a 6-year-old boy came up to pet the lady’s dog and was bit by the monkey. Dixon said the primate was possessive of the dog and when the boy reached for it, the monkey chomped. Both animals were leashed.
The 6-year-old was treated at the hospital for lacerations and bite marks on his arm.
The woman hasn’t been ticketed or charged, but the county’s animal-control agency is investigating.
