Teacher Leaves Money for the Carthage School District

A longtime Hancock County, Illinois high school teacher who died last spring left a nice chunk of money behind to the school district’s foundation.

Virginia Allison taught English in Carthage from 1954-1980 when she retired. After the 87-year-old’s death last April, she left behind $280,000 to the district. The president of the foundation says the group will use the money as an endowment, which they hope will help support their efforts to pay for school technology, science kits, and books.
