Busses, Budgets and Busts on Burlington Council Agenda
The Burlington City Council holds one of it’s every-other-Monday work sessions this afternoon and the discussion part of the agenda could be a long one.
Members will talk more about a 12-unit apartment building on North 5th Street that has some of the neighbors up in arms. Also discussed will be the city’s budget options if voters say “no” to a new utility tax in August. There will also be updates on the Apple Tree Museum at Perkins Park and on the Solid Waste Commission’s comprehensive plan. Another topic will be about a proposed take-over of city bus service by the Regional PLanning Commission.
Today’s meeting is at 4:30 on the 3rd floor of City Hall and the public is welcome to attend or watch on community access cable channel 18.
The Southeastern Community College Board meets today at 5 at the SCC Ft. Madison Center.
The Danville City Council will hold a 5:30 work session and will discuss raising water and sewer rates.
The Burlington School Board has a 7 o’clock session tonight at the Administration Center on West Avenue.
