Tension at the School Board Meeting
There was a little tension at tonight’s Burlington School Board Meeting.
During the public comments portion, Burlington resident, and former Mayor, Tim Scott discussed an issue he was very passionate about- people with disabilities. His daughter is disabled and on the last week of school at Course Elementary, she wanted to join her kids at the fun fest but the parking ramp was blocked by a catering truck. Once the caterer moved, there were bicycles everywhere on top of the ramp. Scott just wants somebody to take responsibility since he didn’t get any from the caterer or the school. President of the Board, Darvin Kendell’s response wasn’t what Scott was looking for…
“We are available. You can call us, you can write us, there are multiple ways to reach anyone here. Advice from our attorneys drive the policies”.
Scott then said that he did call and didn’t get a response. He said he talked to one of the other board members but then added that you don’t get anything accomplished with the public by talking to other board members one on one.
