Pet Saves FM Woman from Smoky House Fire
Michelle Howardson of Fort Madison is grateful to be alive.
A fire broke out a few minutes before 2:30am this morning in her kitchen. Her home, owned by her father Don Miller, doesn’t have smoke detectors. Howardson does have dog, however, and it woke her up in time to crawl out of her smoky bedroom, through a window, to safety.
Ft. Madison Fire Chief, Joey Herren, says the cause of the fire is not yet clear but flame damage was significant to the kitchen area, with smoke damage throughout the house at 1512 Avenue H.
