Jean S. Leinbach, 93 of Stronghurst, Illinois died at 5:05 a.m.Saturday June 15, 2013 at OakLaneNursing & RehabCenter in Stronghurst. She was born October 13, 1919 in Biggsville, Illinois, the daughter of Francis and Grace Weir Gibb. On September 8, 1939, she married Ernest Edward Leinbach in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2003.
Jean worked as a bookkeeper for Davison Motor Sales and Stronghurst Ford from 1955 until 2003. She was a member of the Stronghurst American Legion Auxiliary, Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Auxiliary, and the Stronghurst Christian Church.
Survivors include one son – Lynn (Linda) Leinbach of Stronghurst, daughter in law- Judy Leinbach of Davenport, IA., four grandchildren- Timothy, Scott, and Chad Leinbach, Laurie Despot, ten great grandchildren- Trevor, Megan, Mason, Mitchell, Isaac, and Owen Leinbach, and Dylan, Landon, Garrett, and Griffin Despot, and one sister- Winifred Tinkham of Maxwell, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son- Terry Leinbach, one brother and four sisters.
Friends may call as they desire after 2:00 p.m. Monday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Stronghurst Christian Church, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Minkler officiating. Mrs. Bernadine E. Hite, 86, of West Burlington, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 19, at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor Rod Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Burlington. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June18 from noon until 6:00 PM at the chapel. The family will be present for visitation one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. A memorial has been established to the New London Christian Church.
Donald Gayle ‘Don’ Hollingsworth, age 61, of Wapello, died Saturday afternoon, June 15, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. The son of Gayle Courtney and Carol Ellen Rawhouser Hollingsworth, he was born on March 13, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant. He married Debbie Ann Marshall on September 10, 1972 in Wapello.
Don graduated from Wapello High School in 1970 and received a welding degree from Southeastern Community College. He worked a couple years for Gast Welding in Wapello and then worked at Monsanto in Muscatine for 37 years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wapello and very active in Ducks Unlimited for many years. He had been a little league coach and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed the river and all the family activities there.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; three children, Lynn & Darin Smith of Wapello, Leslie & Lindsay Hollingsworth of Platteville, Wisconsin, and Laura & BJ Bailey of Mediapolis; ten grandchildren, Andy, Abby, and Adam Kerr, Ryan, Emma, & Katy Smith, William and Eva Hollingsworth, and Camryn and Avery Bailey; his mother, Carol Sheckler of Mt. Union; two sisters, Connie Sue & Robert Maxwell of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Joyce Marie Hollingsworth of Mt. Union; and his special black lab, Tess. He was preceded in death by his father, Gayle and his step-father, Floyd Sheckler.
The funeral ceremony for Don Hollingsworth will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with Rev. Pam Kranzler officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral.
The family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.
A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Swimming Pool.
