Donate Life Night this Weekend
Hopefully it’s marked on your calendar, Donate Life Night is this Saturday at Community Field in Burlington.
It’s a night to honor the organ donations of 10-year-old Garrett Brockway who died earlier this year. It’s also a night to create awareness about much needed organ donations. If you’re already an organ donor, remember to bring your drivers license. You’ll be entered for a chance to win an I-pad.
Plenty of activities are planned for the night. There will be a drag racing car that kids can get their picture taken in, the bounce house will be there, there will be giveaways, and an unveiling of a banner for Garrett Brockway in the outfield.
Gates open at 5:30 and the game starts at 6:30.
Garrett Brockway saved 5 lives. A 14-year-old boy received his heart, another 14-year-old boy received his liver, a 43-year-old mother received his pancreas, a 28-year-old man that had been on dialysis for over five years received one of his kidneys, and a 65-year-old man received his other kidney. Garrett’s corneas improved vision for a 63-year-old grandmother of 13 and a 10-year-old girl. His tissues will help upwards of 100 people. A boy with chronic knee pain has received cartilage.
