Samantha Jo Kasemeier, 27, of Burlington, died at 4:07 PM Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Born July 6, 1985, in New Hampton, IA, she was the daughter of Kenneth Gene Hanan and Wendy Jo Kasemeier.
Samantha’s children were her world. She will be remembered for her outgoing, happy personality and bubbly smile. She was always helpful to others.
Survivors include her mother, Wendy (Jeff Card) Kasemeier of Burlington; her father, Ken Hanan of Davenport; one daughter, Olivia Lou Shaffer of Montrose; one son, Owen James Werner of Burlington; paternal grandmother, Sharon Iserman of Fredericksburg, IA; two brothers, Trenton Kasemeier of Fort Dodge, and Bryce Card of Burlington; one step-brother, Brandon Card of Pensacola, FL; one niece; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, maternal uncle, and paternal aunt.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends.
The funeral service for Miss Kasemeier will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating.
Cremation will be entrusted to Thielen Crematory following the service.

Betty Mae Mickael, 89, formerly of Burlington, died at Morning Care Center, Morning Sun, Iowa early Friday morning, June 7, 2013.
Born on May 20, 1924 in Madison, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Frank and Agnes Woods Winters.
Betty graduated from Dakota State University, Madison, South Dakota, in 1942 and received her Master’s Degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, in 1958. She taught school for 50 years, 28 of those years in Burlington. She was a teacher for Burlington School District in the 6th grade at Corse Elementary and Horace Mann Middle Schools. She was a member of BMC Auxiliary, National Education Association and the Iowa State Education Association. She loved to teach, dine at Scotties on Summer Street and spend time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Spring Grove Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Lee (Anita) Mickael of Burlington, Iowa; one sister, Ernestine Johnson of Madison, South Dakota; two granddaughters, Kelly and Megan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Vernon and Warren Winters.
Funeral services for Betty Mae Michael will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Prugh’s Chapel, Burlington, Iowa. Chaplain Randy Gearhart will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa.
Friends may pay their respect from 8 am – 5 pm on Wednesday, June 19 with the family receiving friends on Monday evening from 5:00 until 6:00 pm. A memorial has been established for her grandchildren’s education. Condolences may be left at www.prughfuneralservice.com.
