Big Weekend for Keokuk IA. and Hamilton IL.
It’s going to be a busy few days in Keokuk and it’s next door neighbor, Hamilton.
This weekend, the two cities are kicking off the 100th Anniversary of the Dam & Plant and it’s “Homecoming Days” on the Illinois side. “Mississippi Power 100″ features a parade this afternoon and all kinds of activities, including entertainment, food, drinks, and education beginning each day at 8am. Opening remarks and music will be tomorrow at 1pm at Victory Park. There will also be fireworks tomorrow night at 9:30 along Mississippi River Drive. There will be a closing program at 4pm Sunday.
In Hamilton, “Homecoming Days” are Friday and Saturday, with historical photos of the building of the Dam and Power Plant on display at Gordon’s Grove all weekend. There’ll be refreshments, music, dance, games, youth fishing, frisbee golf tournaments, a “made with honey” competition, and a deuce coupe will close things out from 9 to midnight Saturday with “the best of 60′s :31 Years”, at Sullivan Auctioneers.
