Local Rap Video Controversy
Most of us have seen a rap music video, but not everyone has seen one based in Burlington, until now.
A recent video was produced to further the career of a local rap artist. It’s titled “Bam-Blocka (B-Town) Video” and is posted on YouTube. It has many in the community talking because of the negative imagery shown. The majority of the video was staged on South Hill in Burlington. Greater Burlington Partnership Convention and Visitors Bureau Director, Beth Nickel, helps promote “positives” in the area to attract people to Burlington…
“It is a rap video and you see those produced all over the country. However, I think we are concerned with the imagery and the negative connections to our community, so of course that is a concern. I do think that we have a lot of positive things gong on in our community and our organization tries our best every day to produce content, and little videos, and marketing that markets the positive things in our community as well. Sometimes I feel the best way we can overcome those negative things is to portray the positive things.”
The video currently has over 26,000 views on YouTube.
