WB Man Sentenced to Prison for Last Winter Attack
A West Burlington man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for an attack last winter on a Burlington man.
The attack left 63-year-old Tom Wolf unconscious near the West Burlington Pool with a brain hemorrhage, a number of rib fractures, a lacerated liver, and facial injuries. When he was taken to Great River Medical Center, he had a body temperature of 86 degrees.
District Judge Michael Shilling sentenced 24-year-old Cornell fields to two decades behind bars. He’s also been ordered to pay almost $4,500 in medical bills and $3,400 in attorney’s fees.
Two others involved in the incident were sentenced earlier, but it was Fields who carried out the actual attack.
