Gov Says IA FertPlant Won’t be Affected by Egyptian Clashes
Governor Terry Branstad says unrest in Egypt shouldn’t have any impact on an Egyptian company’s plan to build a fertilizer plant south of Weaver in Lee County.
“Obviously that’s a delicate situation in Egypt right now. The company that’s building the Iowa Fertilizer Plant is a solid international company and we don’t foresee the unrest thats occurring in Cairo having any impact on the project”
In a related development, more than two dozen residents of Green Bay Levee District-2 have signed a petition, opposing the plan to build a road to the fertilizer plant, if it forms a levee around the property. Their concern is that any such levee protecting the plant could jeopardize plans for a levee that would protect the entire district.
