2 More Families Needed to Host Japanese Students for WBHS
The West Burlington School District is asking for 2 more families to each host 1 Japanese student who will be studying abroad this coming school year.
Larisa Conner is with the foreign exchange program for the school and says, as a host family you will receive financial help…
“A host family is paid a stipend just to help out with groceries for hosting students, for detergents and things like that”.
You don’t have to live in West Burlington to host a West Burlington Japanese student. So far this year, West Burlington is expecting 5 students from Okinawa, Japan. WB resident Jay Day hosted a student for the first time a couple years ago and said it was one of the best experiences of his life…
“When he left our home, there were 5 or 6 boys out here crying. I mean these were high school juniors and seniors, just crying. These were big boys too. Cause you know, they made good friends”.
There are 2 Japanese girls who still need placed.
