More Than 100 Cooling Centers Open in Illinois
With hot weather expected to continue for the rest of the week, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is urging residents to take advantage of the state’s cooling centers.
The state has opened more than 100 cooling centers, all located at Illinois Department of Human Services Offices. IDHS cooling centers are open to the public during regular business hours from 8:30am to 5pm. Quinn says high temperatures can be extremely dangerous for senior citizens and young children, and urged residents to take the safety tips necessary to stay cool.
