Parents Group Dissatisfied with Burlington Schools
A lot of concern regarding the education of young Burlington students was addressed last Wednesday night at the Burlington Public Library.
A group of parents, students, and even one person from the Burlington School District’s Administration were there, to talk about issues like classroom sizes and test scores. Burlington Resident and parent Eric Hanks has a soon to be second grader and thinks the large class size is a reason behind the low test scores.
“Class sizes like 25,26,27, well thats not as critical in kindergarten I suppose. But you start getting into learning the math and reading skills in 1st grade, and it starts to get a heck of a lot more critical, so thats when the concern on class size really started for us (as parents)”.
Hanks says due to the good turnout the night of the meeting, they hope to have many more discussions until the problems get solved.
