In Galesburg: Obama Needs Washington’s Cooperation
President Obama accused Washington of taking “it’s eye off the ball” and getting distracted from the economy at today’s speech in Galesburg, Illinois..
“Washington handed out bigger tax cuts to the very wealthy and smaller minimum wage increases to the working poor. So what happened was that the link between higher productivity and peoples wages and salaries was broken. It use to be as companys did better, as profits went higher, workers also got a better deal. And that started changing”.
The president said that even if congress doesn’t help him, he’ll take it upon himself to get that ball rolling again.
Knox College in Galesburg was the first stop of a series of speeches the president will make throughout the country speaking about building a strogner economy
