Nadine Knox, 49, of Burlington, died at Morning Sun Care Center, Morning Sun, Iowa, on Tuesday evening, July 23, 2013.
Born on March 27, 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of Woodrow and Lula Mae Howard Weekly. She married Willie J. Knox in 1990 in Burlington, Iowa. He died on May 19, 2013.
Nadine was a homemaker. She liked to listen to gospel music, loved to shop, decorate and clean. She kept her house very neat. She enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, De’Andre Howard of St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters, Aneesah Howard and Sharmeenah (Calvin) Smith, both of Burlington, Iowa; six grandchildren; four sisters, Barbara, JoAnn, Patricia and Renee; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services Nadine Knox will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Burlington, Iowa. Rev. Albert Sparks will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following services. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. A memorial has been established in memory of Nadine Knox. Everett William Hildebrand, 92, of New London, died Monday, July 22, 2013 at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 30 at the Faith Lutheran Church, Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Michael R. Scudder officiating. Burial will be in Lockridge Cemetery with Military Rites by the Henry County Honor Guard. Visitation will begin after noon on Monday, July 29 at Elliott Chapel, New London with the family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Memorial has been established for the Faith Lutheran Church.
Thomas Dale Good, 67, of Burlington, died at 9:50 PM Monday, July 22, 2013, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born November 10, 1945, in Mount Pleasant, IA, he was the son of Virgil Dale and Vivian Jean Frey Good. On April 16, 1979, he married Billie Ann Gilmore in Burlington.
Tom was a production worker for J.I. Case Co. for 37 years.
He was a 1964 graduate of Burlington High School.
He was a fan of NASCAR and motorcycle racing. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, helping out with his sons’ Boy Scout trips, and watching his grandchildren play sports. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Billie; four sons, Ben Good of Burlington, Chris Ashby of Burlington, Lloyd Duncan of West Burlington, and Dan Good of Burlington; one daughter, Janice Mehaffy of Burlington; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Steve Good, Phil Good, and Dwain Good, all of Burlington; two sisters, Linda Wolford, and Judy Orth, both of Burlington; and 14 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Angela Ashby.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Good will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 26, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home following the burial.
