42% of Iowa Roads in Poor Condition
If you’ve done much driving this summer, you may have already noticed.
A recent report by TRIP, a national transportation research group, has found that almost half of Iowa roads are in poor or mediocre condition. Besides roads, 23% of Iowa bridges are considered to be functionally obsolete.
According to TRIP, more money has been spent on new roads over the years, rather than fixing the current ones. They also reported that poor road conditions are a factor in one-third of all the traffic deaths in Iowa.
