Iowa Man Saves Elderly Couple From Being Hit By Train
An elderly couple is alive thanks to an Ames, Iowa man.
The car of Marion and Jean Papich had stalled on the railroad tracks Wednesday afternoon and was spotted by Chris Ihle, who was returning to his job from lunch. Ihle noticed something was wrong when the train approached and the couple’s car did not move. He ran over to the car screaming and said the couple didn’t move. Ihle then tried to push the car forward, but it didn’t budge. He then moved to the front of the vehicle, slipped his boot into the track ruts for leverage, and heaved. He was able to move the car back 5 feet and then ran to safety. The Papich couple was not injured.
