Obituaries Thursday August 15th
On August 13, 2013 Carol Correan Kelly went home to spend eternity with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She was born on November 27, 1939 to Fred and Pauline Holsteen in Fort Madison, Iowa.
A graduate from Denmark High School, Carol attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa for a time before marrying her high school sweetheart Aaron Bryce Kelly on June 22, 1958 at Denmark Congregational Church. Together Aaron and Carol had four children- Craig (Dana) Kelly, Fort Madison, Iowa, Lyn (John) Boal, Houston, Texas, Grant Kelly, Saint Louis, Missouri, and Shannon (Dixie) Kelly, Fort Worth, Texas. In total, Carol was an affectionate grandmother to twelve grandchildren. Carol has three sisters- Helen (Crane) Caris, Florida, Dorothy (Roman) Klodnysky, Florida, Betty (Richard) Mynatt, Denmark, Iowa.
Carol’s life was defined by her unwavering passion for the Lord. Whether it was making Bible stories come to life for her children and grandchildren, singing in the church choir, or her deep knowledge of God’s Word, Carol’s heart for Jesus was infectious to all that knew her. Her faith, in addition with her witty sense of humor and ceaseless smile allowed her to go through the joys and sorrows of life with strength and grace.
While it is true that Carol will be greatly missed, we can take comfort in the hope and promise that Jesus gives in John 14: 1-4, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you will be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”
The funeral service celebrating Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Harmony Bible Church in Danville, Iowa. Dr. John R. Boal will officiate. Interment will be in Jaggar Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. on Friday at Harmony Bible Church with the family receiving friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. A memorial has been established for Harmony Bible Church.
