Talk of “Complete Streets”
“You’ve seen how it works, so it’s time to make policy”.
That was the gist of Zach James’ comments at this past week’s Burlington City Council Meeting when the young planner got up to talk about the proposed “complete streets” concept of municipal travel..
“One of the first things they talk about is organizing a working group committee to help steer the direction and establish what this policy would look like.”
If you’re not familiar with it, “complete streets” are existing or new streets that have seen striped to allow room for all forms of transportation such as driving, biking, running, and walking. The council asked James what he needs next…
“One or two members from the city council to be apart of this and then maybe some staff members or public works to be part of that committee. At some point we will be going to West Burlington and asking for the same request.”
