Electric Car Stations in Iowa Not Being Used
There have been dozens of electric vehicle charging stations installed throughout Iowa, but so far hardly anyone has used them.
Iowa has about 40 stations where electric vehicles can go to get a charge much faster than at home through an outlet in the wall. Businesses like Hy-Vee grocery stores are also installing more chargers.
A library director in Des Moines says that the chargers they installed at his library have been used only 13 times since 2012. He’s hopeful that electric car sales will increase, and so will the use of the chargers.
Some like Iowa Tea Party leader Ryan Rhodes, says it’s wrong for government to subsidize such efforts.
