Safety Check Proves Effective in Lee Co.
After a day of safety checks, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office reported that they found many roadway violations.
There were 19 traffic citations issued ranging from driving while barred to equipment violations. There were 9 commercial vehicles being placed out of service and 149 warnings.
On August 23rd, at HWY 27 and 130th Street, officials conducted a traffic safety check from 4-8pm. A total of 943 vehicles passed through the check point. 763 were motor vehicles and 180 were commercial vehicles.
The check point is a yearly multi-agency effort to promote safe driving on Southeast Iowa roads.
