Farmers Get Harvesting Tips
It’s been another year of weird weather in the State of Iowa, and yesterday was a chance for farmers to learn what they can do about their crops.
Farm and Ag Business Specialist, Steve Johnson spoke at the Ag Lunch and Learn in Keokuk and said to farmers, if you have anything you can harvest, do it…
“Here is my message today, do you have some corn that you can harvest early and move it, move it, move, it? Do not let this bean futures price get away. That’s my message.”
Johnson said the highest corn prices are between March and September. He also said, as long as you have crop insurance, you’ll be fine…
“Quit playing this “pour me”. If you have crop insurance, you’ll make money this year.”
Also at yesterday’s meeting in Keokuk, Climatologist Elwynn Taylor spoke about how by Tuesday, we should start seeing weather like we did in July… cooler but dry.
