Merle Steward, 80, of New London died Sunday, September 8, 2013 at his home. Arrangements are pending at Elliott Chapel, New London.
Wilma Lucille Goldhammer Getz, 98, formerly of Rancho Village, Weslaco, TX for 30 years, died at 2:34 PM Thursday, September 5, 2013, at the Prairie Ridge Care & Rehabilitation in Mediapolis.
Born December 9, 1914, she was the daughter of Julius John and Sophie Alke Steenbock Lentfer. She had married Eldon Leonard Goldhammer. He died May 5, 1955. She later married Louis Harold Getz. He died January 28, 2002.
Wilma was a mother, homemaker and cherished member of her community.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Weslaco, TX. She enjoyed playing card games and Scrabble.
Survivors include two sons, Edwin Lyle (Jane) Goldhammer of West Burlington, and Robert Wayne (Bonnie) Goldhammer of Mansfield, AR; five grandchildren, Janet (Sam) Warner, Jennifer Jennings, Crystal Gillman, Debra Henderson, and Brandy (Chris) Gronde; 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Junior Lentfer of Bruning, NE, and Lawrence Lentfer and Raymond Lentfer, both of Geneva, NE; and one sister, Luetta Strothkamp of Geneva, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, George, Ervin, Henry, Edwin, and Earnest, and two sisters, Alice and Alberta.
There will be no visitation.
The funeral service for Mrs. Goldhammer Getz will be 2:00 PM Monday, September 9, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Chaplain Harold Schutte officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home following the service. Cremation will be entrusted to Thielen Crematory following the service. Burial will be held at a later date.
Memorials have been established for Iowa Hospice and Prairie Ridge Care and Rehabilitation.

Paul Keith Woodsmall, 65, of Burlington and formerly Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, September 07, 2013 at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington. He was born April 25, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant to Paul and Alverta Hill Woodsmall. In 1972 he married Martha Osborne, they divorced and he married Anna Baxter in 1974. They later divorced. He was self-employed and attended Heritage Baptist Church in Burlington. He enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting and fishing. Mr. Woodsmall is survived by three sons, Brian Woodsmall of Mt. Pleasant, Brendon Woodsmall (Kara) of New London and Timothy Woodsmall (Lacey) of Washington, D.C.; 6 grandchildren, 4 brothers, Jerry Woodsmall (Carla) of Lockridge, Ron Woodsmall (Barb) of Illinois, Tim Woodsmall (Sherry) of Illinois and Kevin Woodsmall of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Annamarie Baxter of Mt. Pleasant; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, Shannon, infant twin grandsons, Greysen and Jaeger and 3 brothers, Terry, Larry and Thomas Woodsmall.
Mr. Woodsmall has been cremated and a memorial service will be held later in the fall, with burial at Burge Cemetery, rural New London. Elliott Chapel, New London is in charge of arrangements.
William F. Knobbs, 86, of LaHarpe, IL passed away at 7:05PMFriday, September 6, 2013 at the LaHarpe-DavierHealthCareCenter.
Bill was born February 11, 1927 in LaHarpe, the son of Kenneth and Anna Alton Knobbs. On June 13, 1948 he married Alberta R. Shoemate in LaHarpe.
He was a graduate of the LaHarpeHigh School. He served in the Navy during World War II. He attended GemCityBusinessCollege and WesternIllinoisUniversity. Bill worked at the Dallas City Lumber Yard and Shaeffer Pen Co., in Ft.Madison . He also work at the LaHarpe Post Office from 1965-1993 and was Postmaster for 14 years. Bill was a member of the LaHarpe United Methodist, LaHarpe Senior Citizens and the LaHarpe American Legion.
Mr. Knobbs is survived by his wife, Alberta, 4 daughters, Betty (Robert) Quigle of Smyrna, TN, Susan (Roger) Keith of Smyrna, TN, Rhonda (Ben) Diewold of Burlington, IA and Julie Larson of Ft. Madison, IA, 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Kathleen Dorch of Yorba Linda, CA and Betty Atkinson of New Berlin, IL and 1 brother, Kenneth Knobbs of Millington, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Anna Belle Lovell.
Services will be held at 2:00PMThursday, September 12, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. Jim Clayton officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be held in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:30PMWednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00PM.
