Gary Stephen ‘Gunner’ Hunt, age 69, of Wapello, died Tuesday evening, September 10, 2013, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center. The son of William Stephen and Virginia Gayle Heater Hunt, he was born on November 6, 1943 at home in Louisa County near Wapello. He married Jean Crammond on October 26, 1962 in Davenport, Iowa.
He graduated from Wapello Consolidated High School in 1962. Before moving to Wapello in 1964, they lived in Muscatine and Gary worked at GPC for two years. He was a farmer in the Wapello area and worked for various companies during the off season of farming.
Gary was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wapello, a trustee for the Drainage District #12, a township trustee, member of the Pork Producers, served on the Wapello Homecoming Committee, a charter member of the Odessa Country Club, was very active in the Wapello Jaycees, and was an EMT and firefighter for the Wapello Volunteer Fire Department.
Gunner liked to play golf in the summer and play in a pool league during the winter. He enjoyed traveling to different states and countries with his wife and family. He was a Cubs and Bears fan.
His family includes his wife Jean; three sons, Stephen Hunt, Scot & Joan Hunt, and John & Sherrie Hunt all of Wapello; a daughter Debra & Brian Thye of Wapello; nine grandchildren, Kara, Eden Jared Jacob, and Cheyanne Hunt, Erica and Tyler Thye, and Jessica and Joseph Barker; two great grandchildren, Waylon and Eleana; a sister, Phyliss Whitcomb of Virginia, Illinois; and a brother, Ron & Peg Hunt of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Judith Hurley, Gayle Hunt, and infant Dixie; and a daughter-in-law, Kristie Hunt.
Following his wishes of cremation, a funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Dan Doolin. Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. The family will meet friends during the hour prior to the funeral at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home and also following the committal during a lunch fellowship at the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church.
A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Fire Station Building Fund.

Jerry E. Henson, 75, of West Burlington, died at his home Tuesday, September 10, 2013, in West Burlington.
Born February 20, 1938, in Kentucky, he was the son of Richard Henson.
Jerry worked for Hawkeye Motors and then later worked for Delzell Motors, retiring in 1997.
He graduated from high school in Kentucky.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He attended West Burlington Christian Church. He enjoyed raising dogs, working on cars, woodworking, and collecting cars. He lived for his dogs.
Survivors include one step-son, James (Susie) Holstein of Burlington; one brother, Lonnie Henson of Burlington; one half-brother, Bill; one sister, Alberta Keever; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
Cremation has been entrusted to Thielen Crematory.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Friday, September 13, 2013 at Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends.
The memorial service for Mr. Henson will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 13, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Carman Cemetery at a later date.

Pauline M. Hedges, 81, of rural Niota, IL passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at her home.
Pauline was born October 23, 1931 in Dallas City, IL the daughter of Paul and Myrtle Carlson Welborn. She married James A. Hedges Jr. on December 24, 1950 in DallasCity. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1992.
She was a graduate of the DallasCityHigh School. She worked for Schaeffer Pen Co. in Ft.Madison, Sears & Roebuck Store in Richmond, VA and helped her husband run a Grocery Store and Gas Station in Mechanicsville, VA. Pauline enjoyed watching birds, her cats and attending the PontoosucCommunityChurch.
Mrs. Hedges is survived by one daughter, Paulette Hedges of Rio Vista, IL, two sons, Robert Hedges of Niota and Stanley Hedges of Pontoosuc, IL, one grandson, Michael Hedges of Niota, and two great-grandchildren, Halee and Hanna Hedges.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James, five brothers and 1 sister.
Services will be held at 10:00AMSaturday, September 14, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in DallasCity with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will be held in HarrisCemetery near DallasCity. Friends may call after 3:00PM Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00PM. A memorial fund has been established.
