Burlington Violence Issue Questioned at Candidates Forum

Because of recent violence in Burlington, one question was asked last night at the candidates forum pertaining to what can be done to curb the violence.

Chris Reed had a suggestion…

“It’s called community involvement. Keeping your porch light on, knowing your neighbors and utilizing crime stoppers. It’s us being involved and being a city. But if we cut police and fire, especially police  since we’re talking about violence, it’s only going to make the problem worse.”

Most of the other candidates also agreed that cutting police and fire positions from the budget is not the best idea.

The forum last night was hosted by Burlington Professional Women, and allowed the media and public to ask questions to the six candidates who were present.
