Ft. Madison Pursuit Ends in Ravine

A man was flown to Blessing Hospital with injuries yesterday after driving his car into a ravine just two miles north of Niota.

A Fort Madison officer observed a car driving erratically around the 600 block of avenue H in Fort Madison yesterday. The car also swerved through the lawn at Fort Madison Bank and Trust and then headed eastbound, still driving all over the road. The officer activated police lights and continued to follow him across the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Bridge. The pursuit ended when the vehicle drove through a soybean field and into a ravine. The driver was 55-year-old Joseph Graciani of Cambria, Iowa. No further information has been released.
