Burlington Council to Consider VenuWorks Deal

IT’S WORK-SESSION WEEK FOR THE BURLINGTON CITY COUNCIL…BUT MEMBERS WILL MEET IN SPECIAL SESSION FIRST…TODAY(MON) AT 4:30…TO CONSIDER A CONTRACT WITH VENU-WORKS OF AMES TO MANAGE THE AUDITORIUM AND PORT.

THE PUBLIC IS WELCOME TO ATTEND.   ON THE AGENDA FOR THE WORK SESSION AFTERWARDS IS FURTHER DISCUSSION OF THIS YEAR’S BUDGET…A REPORT BY DIRECTOR BETH NICKEL ON THE CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU’S ACTIVITIES…AN UPDATE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MANOR PROJECT…AND A PROPOSED AGREEMENT WITH BURLINGTON STEAMBOAT DAYS FOR OPERATION OF THE PORT BUILDING. THE COUNCIL WILL ALSO LOOK AT A RESOLUTION THAT WOULD ABOLISH THE 2-HOUR PARKING LIMIT IN THE 500 BLOCK OF NORTH 4TH STREET.

THE BURLINGTON SCHOOL BOARD MEETS TONITE(MON) AND WILL CONSIDER A REQUEST FOR SO-CALLED “ALLOWABLE GROWTH” AND “SUPPLEMENTAL AID” FOR THE SPECIAL EDUCATION FUND, WHICH IS MORE THAN A-MILLION DOLLARS IN DEFICIT. TONITE’S(MON) MEETING IS AT 7 O’CLOCK AND WILL BE HELD IN THE BURLINGTON SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION BUILDING AT 14-29 WEST AVENUE. THE PUBLIC IS ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.
