Ft. Madison Pursuit Ends in Ravine

A man was flown to Blessing Hospital with injuries yesterday after driving his car into a ravine just two miles north of Niota. A Fort Madison officer observed a car driving erratically around the 600 block of avenue H in Fort Madison yesterday. The car also swerved through the lawn at Fort Madison Bank and Trust and then headed eastbound, still driving all over the road. The officer activated police lights and continued to follow him across the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Bridge. The pursuit ended when the vehicle drove through a soybean field and into a ravine. Numerous Drug Arrests in Keokuk

Four Keokuk men and two Keokuk women have been arrested on drug charges, in separate busts this week. Derek Westwater tried to run from police, but was caught in the 1000 block of Main Street. He was served with a number of warrants for buying more than the legal limit of pseudophedrine, one of the ingredients used to make meth, and a parole violation from Missouri. He could get up to two years in prison. In another incident, Lee County’s Narcotics Task Force arrested 24-year-old Trent Kindhart, 30-year-old Virginia Kruse, and 23-year-old Brandon James, all of 950 Johnson Street Road Apartment A1.
