A New London girl has been identified as the victim of a fatal accident Saturday night on Highway 34, near Jimtown Road.
15-year-old Emma Ritchey was killed when the SUV her mother was driving rear-ended an auger being pulled by a westbound tractor. Des Moines County deputies say Ritchey was pronounced dead shortly after the crash. Her mother, 38-year-old Bonnie Cooper was injured, but not badly enough to be taken to the hospital. The man driving the tractor, 27-year-old Dan Burnett of Hull, Illinois, was not hurt.
The Iowa State Patrol is helping out with the investigation. The Elliot Chapel of New London is handling funeral arrangements for Emma’s family.
