Victim of Illinois-96 Collision Identified

The man who was killed in a traffic accident Wednesday afternoon on Illinois Highway 96 has been identified as 25-year-old Ryan “Kayne” Jenkins of Nauvoo.

The pickup he was driving…which police say had been stolen in Ft. Madison…hit the back of a trailer and combine head that was being pulled by a truck driven by 59-year-old Mark Turner of Nauvoo. Jenkins was killed when his truck spun around, crashed head-on into a grain truck, and caught fire. The grain truck was driven by 64-year-old Artchie Kirby of Warsaw who was taken to the Fort Madison Community Hospital with serious injuries. Turner, who was pulling the trailer, was uninjured.

According to a press release, Jenkins was the only one not wearing a seat belt.
