Betty Jo Rowe, age 82, of Grandview, died Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Mercy Hospice, Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.  The daughter of Glen and Ellen Dunphy Beik, she was born on July 10, 1931 near Letts.  She married Lawrence ‘Babe’ Rowe on February 26, 1950 in Grandview.

Betty Jo attended the Letts school through part of second grade and then completed and graduated from Grandview High School in 1948.  She was a homemaker and had worked at several part time jobs throughout her lifetime.

She was a member of the Grandview Community Bible Church, the Grandview Women’s Club, and the Amicus Club of Grandview.  She enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking, baking, and collecting spoons.

Her family includes her husband, Babe; two daughters, Nancy & Earl ‘Mac’ McGill of Letts and Becky & Herb Eutsler of Cotter; three sons, Larry & Kim Rowe of Hagerstown, Maryland, Denny & Kris Rowe of Muscatine, and Tony & Carrie Rowe of Virginia Beach, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a sister, Marie Murray of Columbus Junction; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mildred Bieri; a brother, Harlan Beik; and two great grandsons, Derek and William.

The funeral ceremony for Betty Jo Rowe will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the Grandview Community Bible Church with Rev. Darryl Erickson officiating.  Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello where the family will meet friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of Unity Point Hospice and Iowa City Hospice.
