A West Point woman was arrested Friday night after hitting a man on a bike with her car and leaving the scene without contacting authorities.
49-year-old Tammy Yates was traveling about one mile east of West Point on 400 North, and struck 33-year-old Jason Newberry of Carthage who was riding a Mongoose bike. Newberry was found lying in the ditch 20 minutes after the crash and had to be flown to Blessing Hospital. Yates was arrested later at her home for Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury and Driving Under the Influence. She was taken to the Hancock County Jail where her bail was set at $50,000.
