Carman-Area Fire Victim Identified

THE VICTIM OF A SATURDAY AFTERNOON HOUSE FIRE IN RURAL CARMAN HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS 72-YEAR OLD JOSEPH (PATRICK) DALY.

HENDERSON COUNTY CORONER CHRIS BEALS SAYS HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT 5:40 THAT EVENING AND THE PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF AN AUTOPSY INDICATE THAT SMOKE INHALATION IS WHAT KILLED HIM.

DALY’S WIFE AND SISTER-IN-LAW ESCAPED THE FIRE, WHICH WAS REPORTED A LITTLE AFTER 3 PM. LOMAX FIREFIGHTERS WERE FIRST ON THE SCENE AND THEY CALLED FOR HELP FROM THE BURLINGTON AND GULFPORT-GLADSTONE DEPARTMENTS.

ILLINOIS STATE POLICE AND THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL ARE INVESTIGATING.
