The Lee County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a hit and run that occurred early Sunday morning about 2 miles west of Fort Madison.
The victim of the incident, who’s name has not been released, was found lying in a ditch by a passing motorist. The subject was airlifted to Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Apparently, the victim was walking along County Road 103 between the hours of 1am and 5am Sunday, when he/she was struck by a vehicle. Part of the vehicle remained and law enforcement is suspecting the debris belongs to a red 2001-2005 Pontiac Grand Am. If you see this vehicle, it will probably have extensive damage to the front passenger side quarter panel and no passenger side mirror. Anyone with information is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 372-1152.
